Attitude (psychology)

Attitude is a key concept in social psychology. In academic psychology parlance, attitudes are positive or negative views of an "attitude object": a person, behaviour, or event. Research has shown that people can also be "ambivalent" towards a target, meaning that they simultaneously possess a positive and a negative attitude towards it.

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Affective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, "BPAD", or "BP" is a mood disorder typically characterized by fluctuations between manic and depressive states; and, more generally, atypical mood regulation and mood instability.

Cognitive therapy

Cognitive therapy or cognitive behavior therapy is a kind of psychotherapy used to treat depression, anxiety disorders, phobias, and other forms of mental disorder. It involves recognising distorted thinking and learning to replace it with more realistic substitute ideas.

Dynamic Cognition

Dynamicism, also termed the dynamic hypothesis or the dynamic hypothesis in cognitive science or dynamic cognition, is a new approach in cognitive science proposed by Tim van Gelder. It argues that differential equations are more suited to modelling cognition than more traditional computer models.

Ethology

Ethology is the scientific study of animal behaviour considered as a branch of zoology. A scientist who practises ethology is called an ethologist.

Feral child

A feral child is a child who has lived isolated from human contact starting from a very young age and who has remained unaware of human behaviour and unexposed to language. A feral child is an extremely rare phenomenon.

Game theory

Game theory is a branch of applied mathematics that uses models to study interactions with formalised incentive structures ("games"). Unlike decision theory, which also studies formalized incentive structures, game theory encompasses decisions that are made in an environment where various players interact strategically.

Zoophobia

Zoophobia or animal phobia may have one of two closely related meanings - a generic term for the class of specific phobias to particular animals, or an irrational fear or even simply dislike of any non-human animals.
